Foreigners or Polish citizens permanently living abroad who are 18 years old on the day of the exam may take C1 level exam in a group for adults or minors who submit the consent of a parent or legal guardian to participate in the examination.
C1 LEVEL
The written examination consists of four parts:
I Listening comprehension
This part of the exam lasts 40 minutes. Candidates listen to recordings, which are played once or twice. While listening, they complete 5 tasks. The tasks assessing listening comprehension are:
- multiple-choice tasks,
- gap tasks,
- true-false tasks,
- matching tasks,
- open-ended question tasks.
A maximum of 40 points can be obtained for correctly completed tasks.
II Reading comprehension
This is the second part of the examand lasts 60 minutes. During this time, candidates complete 5 tasks that assess reading comprehension. The tasks involve reading texts of varying length and, on that basis, completing:
- multiple-choice tasks,
- matching tasks,
- true-false tasks,
- sequencing tasks,
- gap tasks.
A maximum of 40 points can be obtained for correctly completed tasks.
III Grammatical accuracy
This part of the exam lasts 60 minutes. It consists of 8 tasks, for the correct completion of which a maximum of 40 points can be obtained. The tasks involve recognising and using grammatically correct language forms. The types of tasks that may appear in the exam are:
- multiple-choice tasks,
- gap tasks,
- transformation tasks.
IV Writing
The final part of the written exam lasts 90 minutes. The candidate must choose one of three sets of tasks. Each set contains two instructions. The first instruction is to write a shorter form of text, and the second is to write a longer text. Each task must be completed while observing a specified word count. A maximum of 40 points can be obtained for correctly completed tasks.
The oral examination consists of one part:
The oral part of the exam lasts approximately 20 minutes. In this part of the exam, the candidate's task is to produce a spoken response based on a variety of materials — textual and iconographic. Candidates draw one of three sets, each of which consists of two tasks. The tasks involve formulating a response and expressing an opinion on the basis of iconographic materials or a text excerpt.
The tasks are performed before a board of examiners, which may award a maximum of 40 points.
To pass the C1-level examination for adults, a candidate must obtain at least 60% of the points in each module of both the written and oral parts of the examination.
