Pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR), we inform you that:

the controller of your personal data is Kazimierz Wielki University, located at Chodkiewicza 30 St., 85-064 Bydgoszcz, Poland;
the data controller has appointed a Data Protection Officer (DPO), who supervises the compliance of personal data processing. The DPO can be contacted via email: iod@ukw.edu.pl;
your personal data will be processed for the following purposes:
1. to register your participation in the Polish as a foreign language course organized by Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz and to communicate with participants regarding the organization of the course (the legal basis for processing is Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR – the data subject has given consent to the processing of their personal data for one or more specific purposes);
2. to enable participation in the course following the conclusion of a contract between you and the University, including communication regarding the organization and course progress (the legal basis for processing is Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR – processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party or in order to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract);
3. to fulfil legal obligations incumbent upon the controller, e.g., tax settlements, documentation handling and archiving (the legal basis for processing is Article 6(1)(c) of the GDPR – processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which the controller is subject);
4. to establish or defend against potential legal claims related to the course, or where necessary to demonstrate specific facts of importance to the controller (the legal basis for processing is Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR – processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the controller); limitation periods for claims are specified in the Civil Code.
your personal data will be processed for the period necessary to achieve the purposes outlined in point 3; depending on the legal basis, this will be:
- until possible withdrawal of consent,
- the period required by applicable laws,
- the duration of the course preparation and organization,
- the limitation period for legal claims.
for data processing based on consent, you may withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before its withdrawal;
the recipients of your personal data may only be entities authorized to receive such data under applicable laws;
we do not intend to transfer your personal data to other entities;
we do not intend to transfer your personal data to third countries (i.e., outside the EU) or to international organizations;
you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal;
you have the right to request from the data controller access to your personal data, rectification of your data, and the right to request cessation of processing;
you have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority; the supervisory authority is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO);
providing your data is voluntary, but failure to do so will make participation in the course impossible;
we do not intend to use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.
