Informations about exams

Foreigners or Polish citizens permanently living abroad who are 18 years old on the day of the exam may take B1 and B2 level exam in a group for adults.

 

The written exam consists of four parts:

I Listening Compprehension

This part of the exam lasts 25 minutes at level B1 and 30 minutes at level B2. Candidates listen to the recordings, which are played once or twice. While listening, they solve 4 to 5 tasks. Tasks that check your listening comprehension are:

- multiple-choice tasks,

- gap tasks,

- true-false tasks,

- matching tasks,

- tasks with iconographic materials.

Candidates can get a maximum of 30 points at level B1 and 40 points at level B2.

II Reading Comprehension

This is the second part of the exam, which lasts 45 minutes at level B1 and 60 minutes at level B2. Candidates take from 4 to 5 tasks that check reading comprehension. The task of the candidate is to read various texts (single inscriptions, fragments of texts with a length of one paragraph and complete short texts)  and do tasks on their basis:

- multiple-choice tasks,

- matching tasks,

- true - false or true - false - no information tasks,

- ordering tasks,

- gap tasks.

Candidates can get a maximum of 30 points at level B1 and 40 points at level B2.

III Grammatical correctness

This part of the exam lasts 45 minutes at level B1 and 60 minutes at level B2. It consists of 8-9 tasks. Candidates can get a maximum of 30 points at level B1 and 40 points at level B2. The exercises are to recognize and use grammatically correct language forms. The types of tasks that may be on the exam are:

- multiple choice tasks,

- gap tasks,

- transformation tasks.

IV Writing

The last part of the written exam takes 75 minutes at level B1 and 90 minutes at level B2. The candidates choose one of three sets of tasks. Each of them contains two exercises. The first is to write a short text, and the second is to write a long text. Each task must be completed with a certain number of words. Candidates can get a maximum of 30 points at level B1 and 40 points at level B2 for correctly completed tasks.

 

The oral exam is one part:

I Speaking

The oral part of the exam lasts about 15 minutes at level B1 and about 20 minutes at level B2. In this part, candidate should create an oral statement based on a variety of materials - text and iconographic. Candidates choose one of three sets, each of which consists of three tasks. The tasks correspond to the following types of statements:

- monologue,

- dialogue,

- describing a picture.

Tasks are carried out before examiners that can award a maximum of 40 points at both B1 and B2 levels.

The condition of passing the exam at the B1 level for adults is to obtain at least 50% of the points from each module of the written and oral part of the exam.

The condition of passing the B2 level exam for adults is to obtain at least 60% of points from each module of the written and oral part of the exam.
